Check the configuration of the bulb which you are replacing. Compare it to the diagrams below, and select the low volt bulb that suits your needs.

The G4 bi-pin Base bulb is the most popular miniature halogen bulb. The bi-pin socket is normally a press fit socket, where the bulb is secured by friction as you insert the bulb in the socket.

In the Bayonet Base series, the bulb normally is inserted and secured by a slight twist.

The Wedge Base Xenon bulb is similar to the halogen Bi-pin bulb, but without the pins. The contact points or leads are folded over and pressed against the base of the bulb. Like the bi-pin this is a press-in bulb, which secures the leads on the wedge against the contacts inside the socket by friction.
