CLEAR OBJECTIVES

Always deliver more than what is expected. Find ways to add value in every task. Show up early … stay late … finish projects/assignments promptly and offer to help others with theirs.

Strive to create realistic expectations at the onset of any relationship. Don’t manufacture positives or avoid addressing negatives. Always create and implement real solutions.

NEVER bring a problem to the attention of a Superior or Client without at least one solution, preferably two or more. ALWAYS offer to help implement a solution.

Recognize, quickly, the point in any dialogue where there is enough information to make at least a preliminary decision. Offer a proposal. Even a weak proposal is better than a stall. Make every necessary effort to move the dialogue toward a productive decision/action and avoid irrelevant objections or stalemates in the dialogue which waste time ... or worse, could foster political maneuvering and territorialism.
Recognize, quickly, any issue or objection that is not germane to the goal of the dialogue and park/defer to another, more appropriate, forum.

SELF DISCIPLINE

Examine/re-evaluate task list daily.

Complete tasks on time or ahead of schedule.

Communicate clearly and in detail from the onset of each task/project so that if timetables need to be shifted there is advance notice of any need to adjust and clarify realistic expectations.

Track progress and report routinely and thoroughly.

Document meticulously.
